UFC News: Is Khabib Nurmagomedov's reign as UFC lightweight champion ending soon?
INTRODUCTION
The current UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov has been invisible since last October, after UFC 229 due to his suspension. Because of his wrathful actions that created a mayhem after his monumental victory over the former UFC lightweight champion, Conor McGregor on that night, Khabib was suspended for 9 months along with a fine of $500000! Now as per the rules, Khabib will be eligible to enter an Octagon from 6th July of this year but is he really interested in returning that soon?
THE ACTUAL STORY
After winning the throne from "The Notorious" Conor McGregor on that night, a brawl broke out that made things too ugly. Basically, Khabib was triggered after hearing McGregor's cornerman Dillon Danis's trash talk, targeting his religion and nation that forced Khabib to go violent. McGregor also got involved in that melee after he ferociously punched Khabib's cousin.

Things got more messed up as McGregor was charged by Khabib's teammates due to which they were suspended for a whole year upon investigation. However, the new UFC lightweight champion was given a chance to reduce the period of suspension by 3 months, by doing an Anti bullying PSA which he didn't abide by.
Khabib's Manager spoke recently with ESPN's Ariel Helwani and disclosed Khabib's plans of not competing in Nevada anymore and returning at Madison Square Garden in November after his teammates suspension is over.
Just reported on @SportsCenter: Khabib Nurmagomedov is “done” fighting in NV due to the one-year suspension they handed his teammates today, his mgr Ali Abdelaziz said. He will also not fight until their suspensions are over and is now targeting a return to action at MSG in Nov.— Ariel Helwani (@arielhelwani) January 29, 2019

THE BOTTOM LINE
At UFC 234 post fight press conference, Dana white gave his perspective regarding Khabib Nurmagomedov's plans. He basically had to say that guys cannot take such long break from competing when they are champion. White emphasized on the thing that if Khabib has really planned that way, then they will have to figure out something else.
Apparently, Dana and The UFC aren't going to entertain Khabib Nurmagomedov's plans and holding the UFC lightweight championship without competing for that long! Besides, " The Eagle" looks pretty much rigid about his plans of not fighting in Nevada and returning in November.
So, the chances of getting stripped of the championship are on the higher side for the champ. And honestly why not? the year has just begun and Khabib's plans doesn't make sense at all. That would be so frustrating for fighters of lightweight division if no one gets a title shot for almost the whole year!
Stay tuned for more updates!
